Dark tone skin- basics
Evening out discoloration, while still looking natural- and finding the right shade are the biggest challenges for women with dark skin. Most often, the forehead is as least a shade darker, and the center of the face is usually much lighter. The idea behind a flawless complexion is honoring each color in each area.
My favorite cocktails: Dab on a little brightening pen like Laura Mercier’s, mixed with concealer nr 5 or 6 for a bright looking effect on the darker parts of the face. For an all over but flawless looking coverage try Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer in Tan, Walnut, or Mocha (if needed) mixed with an oil-free foundation in Toffee Bronze or Deep Bronze on the lighter parts.
Laura Mercier’s foundation is a layerable high pigmented formula to be used only where needed, and allows the user to determine the amount of coverage. Setting the foundation with a powder underneath the eyes and around the nose- is very important. You won’t get good coverage without setting the powder.
Women of color don’t blush or flush, so the concept is totally different. A a women of colour, we need to use bronzers! When I use a blush or advice one, it’s a pop of color ‘layered over the bronzer. If you don’t, it will never show up like it does in the compact.
Black don’t crack! Have fun finding your flawless cocktail.
