After a successful first edition in January 2013, fashion weekend had a very sunny kick-off where experiencing fashion for a random public was key. AFW’s goal is to bring fashion from ‘catwalk to sidewalk’, and to make a direct connection between fashion and culture. Also to make a bridge to ‘invites only’ fashion shows at the Westergasfabriek – grounds (12 thru 16 July 2013) and visible fashion in stores.
The eight pop- up catwalks in front of the Rijksmuseum, Restaurant Stedelijk, the Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw, brought homeland and abroad culture loving people together.
There where great shows from OAT Shoes, Marije Hellwich, Studio Jux, O My Bag & Dido Yland, Tessa Wagenvoort, Roya Hesam, Dorhout Mees and Elise Kim, as they were sponsored by fashion magazines as Grazia, Fab, Marie Claire, Nouveau en Beau Monde. Next to that you could visit a signing session with sisters Spijkers & Spijkers in the Conservatorium Hotel, or visit Bas Kosters furnished window van EDHA Interieur, the Mad-men-vintage-sewing workshop of Marieke Hendriks in Linhard and the exposition of People of the Labyrinths in their shop at the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam.
Download the fashion week App so you won’t miss a thing, and can follow it all live. You’ll also have access to background information about the designers and exclusive video’s.
