This week I was invited at the RTL Koffietijd studio where I shared my knowledge and expertise on darker toned skin. And I felt so happy to do so, as darker toned skin is not a subject frequently addressed on National TV. One of the topics was the universal strobing trend but also the highlighting and shaping and off course the basics as it all starts here. A spotless flawless face is just as important on a darker toned skin as any other skintone.
I started with a hydrating primer by Laura Mercier. This is one of my favorite products as it nourishes the skin, acts as a barrière between skincare and make-up and contains hyaluronic acid (plumping effect) and Aloë Vera. Good to know that it’s waterbased and does not clash with any other brand of foundation structure.
On Roxi I used Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser oil- free in Almond. On Cherella’s skin I used oil- free tinted moisturiser in Mocha. After a little concealer I applied a creme blush on the apples of the cheeks and set it with translucent powder bij M.A.C. Cosmetics. I love it because of the sheerness of it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills is well known for their contouring pallets. They come in three different shade families, from very sheer to pure chocolate brown. I used the contour kit in medium to tan that worked their magic on both Roxi and Cherella by applying it just below the cheekbones.
You can go all the way with these pallets to create the optical effect of higher cheekbones or a smaller forehead and a smaller nose. For the strobing effect I used the strobe cream by M.A.C. Cosmetics (what’s in the name) which can be used as a face base, but also as an instant highlighter on the bridge of the nose, on the cupid bow or on the cheekbones with a sweep on top of the cheeks. Not fond on creme? Then try a powder version. Laura Mercier recently launched the Candleglow Luminizing Palette. This pallet can easily be used as a perfect strobe glow. One of my very favorites is also the Lightscapade by M.A.C. Cosmetics. Check it out.
Your eyebrows are the character of your face. They frame your face and are just as important as your eye lashes. Therefore you need to highlight them by filling in the blancs. And what better way than to use Anastasia’s brow kit. For this episode at Koffietijd I used the dip brow pommade in soft brown and added a little brow gel on top. And it’s so easy.
For Roxi’s lips I used Chinn –full from the lip parfait collection by Laura Mercier. For Cherella I used the matte After Dark from the newest lip color collection by Urban Decay. If you have any questions on the look, let me know. <3
