And what a treat the opening night was, with tasty and innovative bites from Saint Lucia’s chef using cacao as a spice or seasoning, and a perfectly British introduction by Angus Thirlwell, Co-Founder & CEO.

Hotel Chocolat is a British chocolatier that encompasses a new type of chocolate company, growing rare cocoa on its 140-acre cocoa plantation in Saint Lucia, connecting luxury chocolate making and retailing with cocoa growing – it is one of the world’s few chocolate makers to actually grow cocoa.

 

In 2011 Hotel Chocolat opened Boucan Hotel & Restaurant – a 14-room boutique hotel; a luxurious blend of plantation-chic, natural beauty and well-being with a restaurant set on the Rabot Estate cocoa plantation in Saint Lucia.

Boucan Restaurant is the world’s first cacao fusion restaurant, with a ‘Cacao Cuisine’ menu. This exclusive menu uses cocoa as a light and subtle spice, or as a delicate infusion, but say always to use it in a natural, healthy and exciting harmony. After all, cocoa has been used as a savory ingredient for over 3,000 years and as a sweet ingredient for only 500.

Packed with antioxidants and vital minerals, you can have yourself wrapped from head to toe at the spa. They make their unique lotions and potions on the estate in fresh, small batches. Also the CocoaJuvenate treatment rooms have spectacular views and positioned to catch the cooling and soothing tropical breezes.

 

From a cacao manicure and pedicure, to a cacao massage and a cacao Detox Body Wrap. Imagine a clay, cacao and fresh banana paste smothered over your body and you are wrapped in softened banana leaves as the potion goes to work, drawing impurities from your skin and giving back anti-oxidants and cocoa butter moisturizer. Inspired by the story of the rare cocoa growing on Rabot Estate, and the Chocolat bites with love, a visit to the Boucan spa and estate is of now officially on my bucketlist.
